Counterbalance and pilot-operated check valves — documentation

Choose the section that matches the valve's function in the hydraulic diagram. Counterbalance valves and pilot-operated check valves are not automatically interchangeable. Compare both the component specification and the circuit in which it operates.

Our store has its own language selector. Choose English in the store if needed. For a delivery enquiry, include your destination country and postcode.

Manufacturer documents are provided in their original language; the language may vary by file. Series-level ratings are a guide: check the exact model and operating conditions in its data sheet.

Counterbalance and pilot-operated check valves serve different load-control functions. Counterbalance valves can control an overrunning load, while pilot-operated check valves provide a blocking function with leakage characteristics dependent on the design. Selecting a valve for a cylinder or motor requires the circuit diagram, load conditions, pilot arrangement and manufacturer guidance.

What information should you prepare?

  • Valve function and relevant part of the hydraulic diagram.
  • Full code and cavity or housing configuration.
  • Flow, pressures and pilot-control information.
  • Actuator details and load conditions.

Send the part number and a description of the application. We will check the configuration against the relevant documentation.
